Temple Bar, Dublin’s Cultural Quarter
Temple Bar was Ireland’s first cultural and creative industries cluster, widely recognised by the European Commission as a best-practise case of cluster management. The area has achieved growth in the cultural and creative businesses from 50 to 150 enterprises attracting 40,000 visitors daily and ranked in the top 10 Dublin brands internationally
Innovation management and network development underpinned the success of numerous initiatives including the Dublin Culture Trail app and the much lauded innovative project Culture Night. This event is now a large scale, all-island collaboration project and network involving 34 local authorities and 150 key stakeholders in Dublin that attracts over 350,000 new customers annually; funding investment worth over €1m and a media campaign valued at €2.5m.
The approach to Cluster Development and Cluster Management secured additional EU investments for Temple Bar for a range of EU Funded projects worth €5m including CURE – Creative Urban Renewal in Europe
